How to Enhance WordPress Security with Custom Cloudflare Firewall Rules
In this video, I'll walk you through how to make your WordPress website even more secure and performant using Cloudflare's custom firewall rules. These rules, created by Troy Glancy, help prevent malicious attacks, spammers, and other unwanted access to your site.
We'll cover how to setup all of these rules to allow good bots, block aggressive crawlers, and challenge large providers and VPN users. This is a great way to make your website more secure and keep unnecessary load off of your web server.

Easy Popup Modal for GenerateBlocks Pro (And Many Other WordPress Builders!)
This is fantastic, Cloudflare is awesome for free and can do soe much.
Great resource! One question... in the Security > Bots section, there is a "Bot Fight Mode" . Will this conflict with any of the WAF custom rules that were shown in the video?
Good question! Might be worth reaching out to Troy about that
Why so you use Taylor's template tags when GenerateBlocks can pull dynamic data via posta meta? Do the template tags offer an advantage? thanks.
You can use template tags inline in text blocks for one, and also can go in places GB dynamic data can’t, like in image URL fields
Thank you.
Thanks! very helpful video. I use Cloudways with Vulture and DO servers, would the last rule cause any issues or block Cloudways support from accessing for support purposes? Thanks!
Not as far as I’m aware!
Jonathan, do you use any wp specific security plugins or just cloudflare/server rules?
Following.
I don’t, I just use my hosts security and a trusted suite of plugins across all my sites
Hi I am wondering if this is now better than using plugins such as elementor?
That's great! It's a good idea to start!
Looks great, does it support recurring events as well? Edit: Haha literally just found out by watching the entire video.
Glad you found it :)
xd
What is the query to not show events that have past?
I believe you'd have to build a custom query to do that, if I'm not mistaken
good job
I really like what you'e doing. Thanks for your videos.
I have hundreds I use all the time. I use keyboard maestro in conjuction with Metagrid Pro on my mac for them all. Cant live w/o them.
not the best plugin has some good features but so limited
“With no cell service “ 🤦♂️
All right, Johnathan... you got me into this mess ;-/, so... hope you can let me know what I can do about this. I followed your tutorial as best I could and my domain name opens up into a "This is your first post"... instead of opening up into a Home page I've created. What am I doing wrong. Thanks for introducing me to Blocks and once I get past this issue, I think I'm on my way. Appreciate your help or anyone else's help from this comment thread.
Go to Settings > Reading (or Appearance > Customize > Homepage Settings) and toggle between 'Your latest posts' and 'A static page'. This is basic WP functionality, not Gutenberg.
Thank you for reviewing this. These were some of the keys I needed to gain direction on moving forward with this integration! :)
I too would like to see a beginners guide to generate blocks and press
stunning
I would like a beginners guide to GeneratePress ThemeStyles. Thx.
Great way of explaining. Can you make a video on explaining grid, column, container, rows, group. As these are confusing in Gutenberg. Say for example what's the difference between group, row, stack. Thanks
Ha-pie birthday!! 🎂😄
Haha I like that! We'll use that next year
🎉 I won the Gift ❤ Sorry I was unable to join the livestream due to the Time Zone difference. But thanks for the useful gifts 🎁. Happy birthday day Pie Calendar from India 🇮🇳 34:29
No worries! Congrats on the win :-)
I MISSED IT! NO!!! Congrats to the both of you. Pie Calendar is super easy to use and your support has been amazing too. Thanks for making such a great and affordable plugin.
Thanks so much, Evan! Sorry we missed you
Really good content!!!

Yes, I want beginners guides to generate press and generate blocks. Thank you.
Man, very cool! Fingers crossed it gets expanded into third party blocks! **Cough** GB **Cough**
I want to buy your course. When it will be updated to match current versions of GB & GP ?
Hopefully in the near future - don’t have a hard timeline just yet
@@Permaslug I'd love to see that too, and how your starter site would look with the new GB features 👍
Awesome video Buddy. You mentioned migrating the old global styles to the new global CSS system - I’d love to see a video of how 🙌🏻
Thanks! That’s coming today on the GeneratePress channel
@@Permaslug Always one step ahead! Cheers ❤
Great overview. I think the 'bold' doesn't carry over because it's bolding the inner text itself, but if you use the 'Appearance' in the typography settings, you can change the font for the entire block and that would be synced.
Ahh, good catch. It's impressive how well it already works, especially when considering I tossed in GenerateBlocks elements into the pattern too
Great stream, man! I was thoroughly entertained..."It's all jacked up on mountain dew" "cowboy coding" 😂
🤣 I was pretty happy with that reference. Thanks for watching it dude!
Thank you for that very comprehensive explanation and demo. Very cool! Another question: I find it super annoying to have different default settings for typography and spacing between GB, GP and core blocks. How do you deal with that?
That is frustrating, for sure. GeneratePress as my theme handles a lot of default spacing and styles, but now with GenerateBlocks having css classes aka global styles built in, it’s way easier to manage spacing and styling consistently across your site. Especially when you combine those global styles with patterns
Very well presented! I agree, it's is an amazing feature and makes creating well designed websites so much easier.
Totally agree! Here’s to hoping it makes its way into WordPress core with support for 3rd party blocks
Is it on Core to allow 3rd party blocks to take advantage of this? Or on the 3rd party vendors to add support? I assumed it was the latter... and if that's true, let's go hound Tom!
I honestly have no idea! Let's hound him either way
@@Permaslug at the moment it's just image, heading, and para I believe (as they roll out they'll increase).
@@Permaslug I've got a flaming pitchfork ready!
It would be awesome this override feature to be supported in GB Pro. Joining the strike! :))
Thanks, Jonathan (and Taylor)! I didn't manage to watch it all live, but watched the rest today. I've got a lot to learn about the new style editor, but from what I've seen so far, I wish it were an always-available editor in the sidebar for whatever element you're working on. I don't know whether they can hook in to work with native elements directly, but you can always apply a class if needed, and often I'd like to change the default styling for native elements anyway!
Thanks. Great explanation.
You're welcome!
awesome guide
Glad it helped!
Glad you are back my friend , you making a generateblocks believer lol
Come join the light side :-)
Only just making it to this now, as always amazing work!
Glad to have you, even if late :-)
It's 2024. I'm a nnn-technician. Would you still recommend GenerateBlocks for old men like me? You know Divi is promoting their A.I. stuff but it's expensive and I think probably for an agency that builds many websites and not appropriate for a man writing advertising for merchants. Please make comments or produce a short video with your recommendations. Thank you and accept my complements. you are very well organized.
Hello, very good tutorial with generateblocks, free version, would you know how not to show the icons of the dynamic fields when they are not filled in and do not have a value, thank you
This can be done with the block visibility plugin!
Any free alternative to WPCodeBox?
Oxygen can charge for direct support yearly while the builder remains LTD with updates but direct support can be made yearly
Thanks for this. So I’ve got my Starlink set up Gen 3. Trying to figure out if I can cancel my boyfriend’s cell service with Verizon, since he doesn’t make phone calls. If I do I’m wondering if he can still access our Starlink account so he can access the internet. Anyone know?
Yes he can when you grant permission(s) and userid.
WS forms IS good, but now it seems like they are a bit dated in terms of looks and quality of life functionality. I still like it, but it's definitely the biggest thing holding them back I feel like.
Was very hopeful, finally tackling the Block Editor (I always install the Classic Editor). But sadly got stuck at 7:44, as there is no "Container" option in GeneratePress (free). Where do I go from here? Is it called something else? Are you using the GPPro? Thanks!
You can change the sync in setting between wc and sq. To as fast as every 15 min
This is a great video! I've been driving myself mad trying to figure out how to use blocks. And all the other "tutorials" I found were not as easy to follow as this.
